Home 4 Help

At Home 4 Help, our mission is to provide both physiological and emotional assistance to those affected by homelessness. We aim to improve the livelihood of these victims through a four-step approach: Awareness, Development, Implementation, and Achievement.

While satisfaction of the world’s conditions lies solely upon the individual and their subjective idea of what happiness means, there are ways we can elevate the quality of life for others and achieve a state of peace that appeals to the majority of the population – regardless of status or background. I believe one way we can achieve this state of being is through working to alleviate the universal problem of homelessness. Having a shelter/home is one of the most basic physiological needs for human survival, without this (and food, of course), humans are unable to achieve their own personal goals for self-development and happiness – both of which should be accessible to all human beings. I believe my organization can aid those in need and help them overcome any obstacles they face when striving for self-improvement.

By implementing a four-step approach while also providing victims of homelessness with basic physiological needs, Home 4 Help distinguishes itself from other homeless shelters in that we work towards improving the psychological well-being of our guests as well. We accomplish this goal in four steps:

Awareness
Development
Implementation
Achievement

Awareness

The first step is “Awareness.” Guests who enter our shelter should walk in with the intention of turning their life around, rather than look at it as a permanent safety net. Once guests are aware of their condition and acknowledge they want to make a change, workers and volunteers at our organization will create personal goal plans and steps to help guests achieve their goals.

Development

The second step is “Development.” Once the goal plans are established, we work with our guests to achieve these goals through seminars, therapy, and information sessions. Each plan is catered to the guest’s personal interests, strengths, and weaknesses, so the seminars, therapy sessions, and information sessions vary in accordance to these characteristics. Social events also take place where guests can form close connections with one another.

Implementation

The third step is “Implementation.” After attending numerous seminars and sessions, we evaluate the guest’s progress and determine whether or not they’re ready to face the world independently. If they are, we provide them with the tools necessary to take charge and first and foremost, aim to become financially secure by landing a job.

Achievement

The fourth and final step is “Achievement.” Once our guest has landed a job, they are welcome to stay at Home 4 Help until they save a sufficient amount of income to provide for their own physiological needs. We track their progress so they don’t get too comfortable, as our ultimate goal is to see them succeed independently and eventually work towards accomplishing their dreams. We see the accomplishment of one's goals as a right every human is entitled to, and at Home 4 Help, we provide our guests with the tools necessary so they can get back to a better place financially, physically, and emotionally.
