Born on Third Base

            I found Born on Third Base to be an interesting read in that Collins discusses living life from the perspective of a “One Percenter.” I found it humbling and refreshing that although Collins grew up living a life more privileged than most, he aimed to look at things from the perspectives of those who are not part of the one percent. By giving away so much of his wealth in his youth, Collins proves himself to be a man truly determined to gain a deeper understanding of how the majority of the world lives. Many state a desire to learn how those who are less fortunate live, however, they don’t take action on their words. I found it admirable how Collins’ interest accompanied action.            I like how Collins mentioned “the color of wealth” in the book as well and how institutional racism benefited him in a system of privilege.
